Oh well, that is the question I would not think much! In fact, I do not care much whether a staff has the access or not, as long as the assignment that I have given is completed as I wanted at the end of the day.
Facebook is indeed an exciting social network compares to others. It is more user-friendly, where all friends gather around on their life update, photo/video/feeling sharing, info sharing and whatever sharings you name it.
I was almost frustrated when my previous offices started to ban any social networks and personal emails. And we should all know, we cannot use the company email for personal as well because of the non-disclosure thingy, as many name it. What I could not understand is why such restrictions applied as well. To me, if they are afraid of hacker, virus, bacteria, pornographic or whatever sort that is, just build the firewall stronger. Anyway, it is the staff's attitude and thinking after all, towards their commitment of duty and integrity.
But is the restriction of cutting of the communication with friends outsides intruding the human rights? Because we are working all day in the office without seeing the sun. Sometimes we just cannot use the phones so often in the office as well, 'chatting' about life. Moreover, we just cannot use phone calls/SMS-es to reach out all intended friends. Phone calls sometimes take up money compare to social network and personal emails in Internet.
To me, freedom in the workplace is another freedom of life!
